I need to get my mare fittened up, as I've a lesson (first for many years!!) booked for the 22nd Feb.
I don't have an arena, although do have some arena sized fields and some lights on the back of my landy, so I can do a little schooling by dark. But I'm thinking hacking is going to be better for fittening. I can only ride on a evening (after 7pm) so am thinking of biting the bullet and hacking in the dark. I don't have to go on any roads, it's all farm tracks.
My mare is a little spooky but have heard horses can actually be less spooky and concentrate more in the dark.
I lead them to the fields every morning in the dark by headtorch, so we're all used it.
Should I give it a go?? And any tips on temporary strapping a headtorch to mare's bridle??
