I have just received an offer from Warwick University, and have suddenly realised I have missed out vital research about the uni and the surrounding area...

What is it like?
Is there a thriving riding community or will I be on my own?
Is it a relatively affordable area for lessons or even shares?

Thanks if you know the answer to any of these, a share of my Dairy milk bar if you do!

Warwick University riding club offers lessons for (I think) £14. Riding club socials are usually quite good fun! I have my own horses so didn't partake in lessons.

Yep, i am in Warwick area, its very horsey

There are like 4 PCs in the same area hehe

Thanks Miss_Licious, very helpful. What were livery prices etc like round there or did your horses remain at home?

I spent a lot of time looking at yards, and was disappointed with most of the ones I looked at! Now have my two youngsters at a fab yard on grass livery. The yard I am at it fairly pricey but, from what I looked at (and I looked at a lot!) I wouldn't have taken them anywhere else! I suppose you get what you pay for like with everything.
Hope that helps!

but the university is more coventry way than warwick itself right? the actual warwick area is pretty horsey, i was at warwickshire college doing an equine degree and there are loads of yards around so finding a share should be easy

Depends what you want from a livery yard - there are one or two good competition yards but pricey.
Some places with great facilities...if you are near Solihull riding club it's worth becoming a member because you get to hack over their grounds and have subsidised use of their huge, fab schools, as well as discounts on comps etc.
Hacking can be a bit disappointing, especially on the Coventry side as the roads are so busy, so have a really good look around if this is what you are interested in.
On the plus side loads of comp venues and just a generally great place to live, some fab countryside but really central for work, shopping and getting about!
