I have a friend who has ridden all her life, she competed as a kid etc, but for the last 15 years has only really hacked out. She wants to have some riding lessons again, but doesnt want to go to a riding school because they will just plonk her on an old cob who is half dead and probably not very well schooled, and she obviously will not learn anything from something like that.

What she wants is to have lessons on a really good schoolmaster. Does anyone know of someone near to Kent who is perhaps a Dressage Instructor/Rider who has a good schoolmaster and does private lessons.

Many thanks

Well for a fun change of sport, what about Jason Webb in Goudhurst for some polocrosse? She'll learn a lot!

For more traditional riding, Bedgebury Park also in Goudhurst.

Google them both...

There is a place just outside Canterbury, cant remember what it was called. The staff seem really nice there. If you want PM me and I will try and find the name of it. :)

I know a nice place by Manston Airport, but I think that may be too far to travel. It is a riding school, but I dont think your friend should completely ignore them. You usually get the feel of the place just by walking through the door, so maybe take a day looking at the local ones and see if there is anything where the horses look in good condition and not half dead.
I used to work in a riding school and the horses were fed hard feed three times a day, and not worked everyday and the most a day was about 3 Hours.. 4 if it was summer and they did walking hacks as leaders.
But they were very far from old cobs that didnt do anything and could do just the same as my TBX.

Also,
Has she thought of loaning and having lessons?
