Riding on Ainsdale/Formby Beach

Hi there - thinking of hitting the beach during the hols - wonder if anyone has ridden on these beaches and have any tips about which is the best one etc or anything to avoid. I imagine to get there very early would be best and what about those sand kites and sinking sand???? Many thanks.

Go to Formby beach, park at Lifeboat RD and walk along the bridlepaths or straight over the dunes on to the beach. Avoid Ainsdale if possible, is much worse for sinking sand and Those flamin kites!

a few friends used to go (I dont have transport so havnt managed to go yet), they always went in the evening when it was cooler and less people

It's fantastic. Park at Freshfields (tarmac - they charged us about £4 for the day) and then you're straight over the dunes onto the beach. About a mile to the left is MOD land so watch out for flags, they'll whistle you if you're in the line of fire though!

I think it's on Lifeboat Road if you've got an A-Z.
