If you saw a woodland track which was marked 'private property-no access' would you totally ignore it and ride down there anyway?

Someone has been riding on my friends property and has made a right mess down there. Bottom of the valley is very wet at the moment and its fairly obvious someone has been tearing up and down the tracks down there.

Personally i wouldnt dream of it! Cheeky gits!

No I wouldn't dream of it! I've accidentally wondered onto private property before now but wouldn't dream of it if it was obvious eg. The sign!!!

No but people do a lot of things I wouldn't!

Perhaps suggest your friend adds 'keep out shooting' or 'tree felling' or 'the area is being treated for disease using poisen - do not enter' or something equivalently off putting so they think twice.
Or fence it - sadly I meet a lot of idiots

Thing is there often is tree felling as her husband has a mill down there! She is away this weekend so i took mine and her dogs for a run down there and was quite shocked at the mess down there!

No, I wouldn't but people have a heck of a nerve.
We had a greyhound exercise track, bark chippings about 500 yards length and someone galloped up and down that making a heck of a mess and making it a lot of work to get it straight for the dogs.

I would firstly check the local maps, if it is not marked as a right of way, then in her shoes, I would be putting up gates with locks on. If it is a footpath, going to somewhere other than the mill, then it is possble that people have ridden it in the past and that someone will put in a claim for it.
We live on a private lane,(no rights of way) some rude person allows their dog to come up to the gate to the yard and ***** there  makes me very cross, some people are just rude.

We are in Wales
There is no right of way. It goes down the valley, loops around the basin then back up.
The tracks were fresh so i dont think i missed them by very long.
Not realy my place to berate them i suppose but if i do catch them i will point out their error!

Not unless I had permission beforehand. Very rude and potentially dangerous. It also puts people off letting people use it if they ask.

I will be honest when I was under 16 I would have went anywhere on the pony.... Through the town football pitch, through a persons garden as a short cut, across a farmers field of he left the hate open but now at 25 I wouldn't dream of it so perhaps it's a youngster!?

Hmmmm....benefit of doubt...maybe youngsters, perhaps they saw you/your friend riding there and assumed it would be ok (though they should respect the signs and try to get permission first!). But if tree felling does happen there then signs making this clear must be a good idea...
We have permission to ride around a local farmer's fields when conditions are good and no shooting, but it's so wet/soft now we daren't use it as he may say no more if his land gets cut up.

Would not ride on private land - unless with permission. There's enough idiots taking the mick on playing fields and pedestrian tracks around our woods without me adding to the mix (And I aint that stupid or ignorant).

Us riders do have access to many tracks and we're lucky TBH (off-road m/bikers don't have as much access as we do in many cases) but a few idiots can spoil it for the many - already access routes have been removed (legally) due to ignorant and stupid riders around our way - the few have seriously spoiled it for the many ...

... Sorry rant over - sensitive subject after separate issue today ...

please do not follow this advice, if you put signs up saying there are falling trees you will be admitting liability if a tree were to fall.

I would put a gate on the front, people have absolutely no care of anyone's property, im tempted to ride through the Garden of the lady who let herself into some of our fields yesterday.
