Riding on the roads

After reading another post, Do you wave drivers past if you can see ahead but they can't?
Now i do if i can clearly see ahead that nothing is coming but a friend was told at pony club that you shouldn't because if something did come after you had waved them on and there was a accident then you would be to balme.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't wave them on but would stop them if they were about to pull around me and I knew there was a car around the corner.

Ditto above, I never encourage people to overtake me (who's to say my judgement is better than the driver of the car?), but I would stop them if I thought it too dangerous. Like the OP I was always told that insurance-wise I could be to blame if an accident resulted from me encouraging someone to overtake, so I might watch this post with interest.

Ditto taught the same.

I'll stop them if there's a car coming, but leave it up to them to decide when to go past as other wise liability can be down to you for waving them on and they then had a crash.

I've always been told never to wave on a vehicle on the road. Just be polite, thank them, also try to move out their way if apparent would be blocking them (e.g. on a windy country lane etc).

Had a nasty moment when was little, hacking out my little exmoor, going round a corner, two cars coming both ways, car coming towards me going far too fast, smashed into the car coming up behind me, resulting in myself and pony bolting up road! And the car whose fault it was just backed up and drove off apparently, car who was hit actually came and found me and made sure I was ok - nice to know some people care even if not remotely horsey!!
