Riding on your own

I often ride alone in the week and I love it, just me the horse, two dogs and total peace and quite. I'm a lazy rider and spend a lot of time just standing and staring, suits the painted pony too.

As for schooling, it's not my favourite thing in the world but I wouldn't attempt to teach a horse anything if I had company. Plenty of time to get used to that once he's figured out the basics without distraction.

Only people I will ever ride with are mum and Becca- and only ever with Becca down at my yard. Coloured is better hacked by himself, and so am I, I like to have chill time, with the horses and away from people, going out with bec/mum is like having another session, I dont want that. But I never hack bertie alone, he is so skitty and liable to drop me, falling froma 17hher is not something I want to do again, so I have to find the middle between what I want to do, and what is sensible- if I am lead riding I try to go out with Bec, just incase, phone signal is cack round here.

I prefer riding on my own because I don't have to worry about what other people are doing or make conversation! I find I can concentrate better when I'm schooling alone and when I'm hacking I can just chill. I like riding with other people sometimes though.

Rather ride by myself... Not even watchers either... Do much better this way....

Well I do enjoy riding in the school on my own sometimes makes me really concentrate allthough when I am not riding on my own I am usually having a group lesson or riding with my best friend or sister so either way doesnt bother me

hacking, i dont ever hack alone me and pickle had a bad experience hacking alone and he is a nervous wreck alone so we stick to riding in groups where he is more relaxed

I always ride on my own, there's only me and my sister at the yard and she only goes alternate mornings and weekends, whereas I ride evenings. It can be pretty nerve racking if you think nobody is there to help if anything goes wrong, which has happened!

I was the only livery at my previous yard and because it was often late after work when I was riding I was nearly always on my own. Its great to have the arena to yourself so you can concentrate on what you are doing rather than dodging out the way of people but I found when I went to shows my horse was shocked by other horses coming past her in the collecting ring.
At my current yard its 50/50 on my own to in company and while I still prefer to ride on my own its helped my horse no end with the collecting ring problem as now she doesn't care if a horse canters close past her as she's used to it now.

I always ride by myself but its just me and my dad at our yard. I have been hacking out alone since I was 12 as my 14.2hh would not hack out in company and ever sinse its been me time. My dad some times gets annoyed at me as he wants someone to hack out with and gets upset when I say no!

I always ride on my own and always will...just me and my boy...oh...and some scary hedgerow monsters!!!!! I don't do schooling so all our solo riding is hacking and pleasure rides. I have tried on many occasion to venture out with someone else but find it stressful because they always want to do something else or go fast, or they are not in control of their horse, or their horse winds mine up etc etc...so I don't bother and have become billy no mates for riding! Love it!

I hack out with friends one day and alone the next. I choose the friends I ride with because I know and trust them. My horse is better at the front and he is used to meeting up with friends and leaving then to go home which I think is good for a young horse. My other horse is a typical welsh and a right bossy madame she is better on her own as out with other horses will use them as an excuse to hide behind, So I get the best of both worlds really.
