Riding or horse inflicted injuries ???? most common injuries ???

I've got off lightly for sure. I think the worst I've had so far (touch wood) is being bucked off by a 17hh, landed on my tailbone. Couldn't get back on but said I was fine, untacked (limping all the way) then eventually that night the pain was too much and I had to go to hospital, it now bends to the left and still hurts occassionally 8 years later!

Recently, had a disagreement with Belle about whether or not we were going to jump a spread, I forced her to, she cat-leapt it and I got unseated so she bolted with me hanging around her neck - I came off and slid across the grass on my face, luckily no broken nose but my top teeth went into my lip and I looked like a duck for about a week!

Saying that, about 2 months ago Belle rushed through a gate and my knee hit the metal clasp that shuts it, resulting in huge bruise and very very painful, it still hurts now so maybe I should get it looked at. Hmmmm.....

Broken clavicles (collar bones) is without doubt one of the most frequent horse related injuries. Unfortunately, it's also well known to be one of the most painful! I did it myself a few years ago now and ended up with a metal plate - and on the same day I did mine, another lady was brought into A&E, also with a broken clavicle from riding.

I also managed to break my fibula, just above the ankle, in June of this year, so had another metal plate added to my collection. Compared to the pain I went through with the clavicle, breaking the fibula was almost a breeze!

I believe that broken collar bones are THE typical riding injury.

Mine wasn't really painful though, I tried to get back on, and only didn't because I couldn't raise my arm high enough. I didn't go to hospital that day as I didn't think it was broken, to be honest it was only the partially dislocated shoulder that got me an x-ray!

My bruised hip was FAR worse, as were some bruised ribs - nasty!

Well I can add my clavicle to the rather large 'broken' pile we seem to be getting

It really did hurt quite a lot!! I too asked the fence judge to give me a leg up... actually the fist thing I saidwas 'that does NOT count as a fall- I was at least three strides away' !!

She counted the fall and wouldnt give me a leg up :/ Maybe it was a good thing she didnt as it was very displaced and alarmingly overlapping :0
Hope everyone with recent injuries is ok and get well soon!!
