After a lovely schooling session this morning, the spooky pony was put back in his field, and I went off to Brechin Castle to watch another HHO person go around Novice. Then, I rushed back, plaited him in record time, and trotted through the woods to our final test of the winter league.

The tests were held in same-said outdoor school where we've had a number of, errr...incidents in the last few weeks. Unfortunately, I know that the spooky pony has a very good memory!

P15 was a bit of a mixed test: we stayed in the ring this time, which was good. This was despite two attempts on his part to leave at very high speed, which was not so good. "You coped well with a tense and explosive little pony!" is sort of a back-handed compliment: I think I preferred "a happy partnership"! Nevertheless, the occasional appearance of 7s in our trot work now is a great improvement for him.

Our pairs test was much better on the spooky pony's part, quite possibly because I was so busy trying to figure out where the girl on the slow and nappy pony had got to (she was doing a good job getting him round, but there are limits!), that I didn't have time to worry about him. We won by default, since the only other pair entered lost one partner to a large buck...ah well, onwards and upwards: the summer league starts next month!

...mainly because we were the most regular participants, we got some fancy rosettes as freestyle-to-music and pairs champions!

I suspect those will be more hotly contested in the summer league...
