Riding Schools around Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire?

I've just started riding at a new school after a horrible experience with my last riding school (owners bitching about customers, treating the horses badly etc.)

Anyway, where I'm riding at the moment I'm paying £35 for a half an hour private lesson which is impossible on a part-time wage of £50 per week, eek! So I wondering two things:

1) If anyone knows of any riding schools around the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire area (Thame, Wheatley, Aylesbury area - OX9)

2) If anyone locally here could give me some lessons for a small amount of money, sorry if this sounds extremely rude!

I've ridden at so many places across my region that I think the place I'm riding at now is my last hope!

My niece rides at Shardloes in Amersham, Bucks - I watched her lesson - though it was a five years ago I was impressed with the structure of the lesson and the care of th ehorses - this is their web site

Thank you for the links, I've tried the BHS website before and unfortunately it doesn't have anything listed under Oxfordshire and the ones in Bucks are right on the other side. (Whereas I'm inbetween the two)

My friend actually works at Shardeloe Equestrian Centre, again slightly too far out for me which is a shame as it's amazing.

I think you will find around this neck of the woods that £35 for a private lesson is the going rate I'm afraid. My OH was having private lessons at a RS & it was costing us £40 a week - more than my boy's livery for the week!

I am South Bucks but Meca Riding Centre in Wooburn is very good, I worked there years ago & can highly recommend but if Shardeloes is too far Meca most definitely will be.

Good luck with your search, have you tried the yellow pages, there maybe some little private places advertising in there.

I think the price is about average I'm afraid. We charge (Berks) £32 for 45 mins assessment lesson, £40 for 3/4 Private lesson and £52 for an hr's private lesson. We do ensure all of out horses are well kept and well schooled and you will always have a min of a BHSAI teaching you and more often than not a BHSIT. We are one of the cheapest within a 15 mile radius.
