Riding schools in leicester TEACHERS HELP PLEASE

Can anyone reccommend a good riding school in Leicester?

Alanna is just starting cantering and pole work, HOWEVER the teachers have never explained diagonals, halting (properly) turning (properly) aids for cantering (hold saddle and kick is not what i call an aid) etc etc.

Am i just being "pushy"? is it unrealistic to expect her to be taught this at the moment, will this be taught at a later date when she is more advanced?

I have tried 2 schools in leicester, one the teacher spent the whole time nattering to the parents, next lesson i booked private thinking this would help, but the standanrd of teaching was as above.

The second school was a lot better but so many kids (15) that she spent most of the time walking.

Any good schools in leicester? or should i stick with 1 or 2 coz im expecting too much.

(Am now looking for 1st pony to loan so I can teach her properly)
 
Too much theory can get in the way when learning to ride, this is no excuse for chatting to parents or having lessons too full ,I would say 8 should be a maximum.
Confidence and a balanced position first. Sorry I can't recommend anywhere but have you talked to the manager/owner about your concerns,are the instructors just trainees? If so they should be under some supervision.
 
I think you can have lessons at Brooksby College , Its just near Melton Mowbray , its got a fab huge indoor school , or there's Parkview in Leicestershire, they both have websites , hope this helps

Have you tried Witham Villa? Not been there for years but I rode there from 8-13 before getting my own loan pony and learnt lots! But then that was 8 years ago, can't give you up to date feedback on them?
 
Difficult to recommend any as I haven't had lessons for a few years but Markfield Equestrian Centre taught me a lot. Of course I was an adult when I went there so children's lessons may be different. I also went to Witham Villa - very enjoyable lessons.
 
her position and balance are fantastic, (she enjoys working without stirrups!)

I am just concerned that not teaching her ANY theory will get her into bad habits whivh are then difficult to break - she already thinks she can ride well. modesty is not her strongest point!!!
 
marfield and parkview are the two i have tried. I used to go to witham myself and would reccomend it, however i thought they were VERY snobby and looked down at me when i got my first pony (they all had wembley SJ -mine was a newforest 20 yrs old!! this was errr... 15 years ago)

anyway, i started sj and went international, i understand from a friend that taught there, they have pictures of me under "past students" - who's laughing now

Hello, i have heard that Hardwicke lodge in enderby is very good. My freinds little girl who is four learnt how to ride there...other than that brooksby college it highly recommended!!!

I have a friend who has sent her daughter (11) to a lovely small riding school in the Leicester area. The ponies are good as is the tuition. She was a bit nervous after her scatty lead rein pony and has come on in leaps & bounds. I'll text her & get the details if you want to pm me...
 
Depends where you are, I learnt to ride at Long Lane Riding School in kegworth, none of the instructors that taught me are left there but im good friends with the instructors there now and they are very good at teaching kids, mixture of basic and theory. Its also a pony club centre for kids without their own ponies, runs a camp during the summer, and lots of rallies during the holidays for the kids to get their badges.
Has a huge range of ponies too. Only problem is the school keeps flooding, if they get planning permission they are planning on expanding. Sometimes the lessons can be slightly crowded but i think they are limited to 8 max.
I keep my horse at their livery yard when im home during the holidays.
 
There is Mill House at Belton.... She has a Pony Club Centre too and the kids rode really well when I saw them at Pony Club champs this year and what looked like some really good schoolmaster ponies.
 
There's one in Oadby (mere lane), and another worth a try is Clipston riding school. Smaller school, but the owner is very proffessional.
 
I'd recommend Witham Villa highly. I have lessons there when I've got spare cash and also took my horse there for a month for schooling. (the middle pic is their outdoor manege)

They were brilliant - really professional, look after the horses really well, very good instructors, nice horses, good facilities. It depends on what you are after really but I wouldn't go anywhere else for lessons (I've tried a lot of the RS in the area).
