Riding schools in leicestershire.

I'm looking for a riding school for girlchild, who, although fairly confident, I feel needs to be taught properly, ie from someone she can't argue with lol.

She's 5, and can walk, trot, canter (which is still involving flapy arms and squealing with joy, but thats normal I imagine lol) , so I'm after somewhere that will encourage her fowards and not hold her back in a class of tinies on the lead rein.

We visited mere lane in oadby, but I was greeted by a 12 year old who said they hadnt any small ponies, but she was welcome to have lessons on a 13hh pony

, I tried phoning later to speak to an adult, but no answer.

Saddington is a no no.

Is there anywhere else on the oadby / wigston side of the city that does good lessons? and perhaps somewhere she can have stable management or be part of their pony club? she just wants to be with other horsey girls really.

any recommendations please?
 
I was googling the same thing last night. I have come to the conclusion that I will travel further just to get a good lesson.My daughter is 11 and wants to ride and would help out with horses. I paid for a private lesson for her and for the whole 1/2 hour the young lad leant against the gate and chatted to his friend. So wont go there again. There is one out at Griffydam called Morelands and I may well try there. The longer drive out would be worth it just so she actually learns something. Quite surprised at how hard it is just to get a quality lesson.
 
May try there or comtemplating finding a share for her. She has her own pony but has outgrown her but wants to ride.

Finkle: shes got her own pony too (well two but one's not broken in yet) just no-one to ride with as we moved and don't know any other children in the area and we havent transport as yet for pony club (which would be ideal). I think for kids its the social side of it too, as I suppose it is for us mothers.
 
Definately the social side....pony days etc. Welcome to the area if you are from elseshere by the way!

She would like me to buy another but I am refraining!
 
Oh I'm from northants so just moved over the border... still finding our feet though regarding 'locals'.

We wouldnt have two, but, I couldnt find 24/7 turnout livery within reasonable distance of home (plus first pony can kick which makes livery difficult) so we rented a field from a friend and ended up getting a companion as the old boy was miserable on his own. Thankfully I pay x price for the field and no more... I say thankful because old boy is well on his way to retirement and cant keep up with daughter, mini is going to be outgrown come next year, but will be kept as a future LR pony, so I can see us ending up with a third pony... unless I get her lessons and divert her attention away from pony ads...
 
I was gonna say Ivanhoe in Ashby too! really nice school and people and ponies!

Barleyfields is also good but might be a bit of a treck for you... (j5 on a50!)
