I ride at Checkendon which is near Goring - not sure if that's too far south for you though.

there is a large riding school on the Garsington Road web page , also a smaller one at North Hinksey village. also Silverdown at Harwell

I used to ride a Garsington - was about 10 years ago though so don't know what it's like now.
