I'm on the Shropshire/Staffordshire boarder. Gave up Ruby at Easter and I'm getting to the point where if I don't get back on a horse I might not do it

I'm looking to work towards trying out for the uni teams in September so need to be jumping 3ft3 and ride a novice dressage test on any horse so the riding schools I know of wouldn't be suitable.

Can't see anyone taking on a summer sharer which is what I'd rather do to be honest, miss fussing over a horse, tack cleaning, poo picking etc.

How about Berriwood? Tikki is a great instructor and I did some of my stage 2 training there. Not sure what other instructors etc are like but Tikki does some rallies with our RC and I can reconmend her. Don't know of any other riding schools round here really.

I would say Berriewood too! Agree with PP Tikki is a brilliant instructor, although expensive. Also Prescott and I think there is a riding school at Whixall, Whitchurch direction.

sorry i don't know any riding schools around there. but which uni are you going to?if its local you could have a couple of lessons at the training yard so you know the horses a bit before trials

I was in uni team at Keele few years age. We had to join the "riding club" and have lessons at the local riding school (which wasn't really a riding school- more of a hunting hirelings yard) and then team was picked in November time I think. We picked the team on jumping ability and accuracy of dressage movements. I was the best riding experience of my life as you have to be so adaptable. Best was when I did dressage on a 17hh eventer (you have 6 mins warm up I recall?) then on to a 13.2hh JA pony for the 3'3" jumping.

Worse was prob a 4 year old to do the dressage on that had been backed 1 month ago

and had never been in the main indoor. (I must say he was very well behaved but a bit scared of the judge). Can you go on a riding holiday or similar where you get to ride lots of horses and be instructed at a higher level? like Yorshire riding center? (Hope this helps)
