Riding schools near Chipping Sodbury

Afternoon all,

Our office manager at work is looking for a riding school for her husband near Chipping Sodbury. He has ridden in riding schools before but had about a 5 year gap and they've moved over this way. The riding schools I know are in the wrong area so if anyone has recommendations she'd be really grateful - better than taking pot luck! She's heard of one called Michael Warner (think thats what she said) but not heard anything about it.

My OH learnt to ride at Barton End Stables just outside of Nailsworth so I know they have horses suitable for adult beginners (they also do RDA) and it's an easy journey up the A46 from Sodbury. Not 100% sure if Tumpy Green near Dursley has any suitable horses but these two BHS centres are worth a call. If he doesnt mind travelling a little further then Clevedon Riding Centre is another good one. PM if you want more info.
 
Never heard of Michael Warner. Round this area the riding schools are really only Tumpy Green at Dursley and Clack Mill at Keynsham but I have never been to either. There used to be White Cat but it closed as a riding school a few years ago.
 
I was on a desperate hunt for a riding school near chipping sodbury about 7-8 months ago. Unfortunately there are none particularly locally. Nearest decent one is at least 15 miles away. So depends how far he wants to travel. Michael Warner is a private DIY livery yard. I tried Wapley stables, but personally would not recommend it.
 
Have heard good things about Barton End! I learnt to ride at Wapley and have also ridden once at Clack Mill (didn't go back though). Rode at both of these about 8/9 years ago though so may well have changed quite a bit since then. :)
 
Thanks all! Think Clevedon is a bit far, I suggested it to her (had private lessons there for a while after uni) but will mention the others. Had a couple of lessons at Tumpy Green and think some of their horses will be ok, was just a bit far for me to travel but might be ok for her. Thanks for all the suggestions! :)
