Can anyone recommend a good riding school in Wiltshire?
I do have my own horses and go to my instructors every week with one of them (the one i occasionally take to local shows) and have been for the past year but am thinking of going to a riding school every so often so i can ride different horses as i will be backing my youngster and thought it might be benificial.
Am i mad in thinking it would be benificial?

Talland is probably top of the list (although I think it might actually be in Gloucestershire, lol!)

Janice Aspin is excellent at Hulbert's Green in Brinkworth - she has downscaled a lot recently but she still has a few horses in, and she really is wonderful

Pewsey Vale is good too!

Lol always my horse if you want one to ride!

Think there's one in Calne, Hampsley Hollow or something like that...a girl who comes up to ride our pony has weekly lessons there.

If i didn't think you were joking i would probably consider that offer.

thanks for those, i thought Harris Croft was just livery now, i learnt to ride there many years ago.

Lol well if you are looking for another horse to ride, more than welcome!

No problem...I've no personal experience with any of them unfortunately, only moved here last summer so just yellow paged lol.

I'm in Swindon. My daughter has an excellent freelance instructor, she comes to your place or you can rent a school (like the one at Rabson) she used to work at Hulbert's for many years until it downscaled.

I can pm details if you like.

Thanks but i already have a very good instructor i take one of mine to weekly.
Im looking to ride some different horses/ponies as i will be backing my (first ever) youngster (piebald below) this year and i know all horses are different and thought it would be helpful in a way as i have been riding the same pony for the past year (skewbald below).

Ah that's cool. I'm over near Clevancy

Got an indoor school here but just looking for a place for lessons too.

Does she allow lessons on own horses? Don't suppose there's a XC course or comps at all is there lol?

If you want to really improve and try something different - have you checked out Adam Matthews near Bulford - he has PRE stallions and teaches riders well established in the basics works with them to refine their seat and skills in a classical dressage way although he competes in FEI dressage. The horses themselves teach you so much. About 45 minutes from Swindon

Vikki, I'm just south of you and there is a small livery yard/school in our village - not ridden there myself but seems generally well thought of and some good riding around here. They have outdoor school; no indoor.
