Forgive the probably silly question but I was recently assured that small pony stallions are not ridden. Pretty sure this is arrant nonsense and I certainly knew of a ridden NF stallion. But who rides small m&ms or riding pony stallions? Small adults?

There's plenty of e.g. Connemara, Gotland Russ, and New Forest pony stallions in Sweden with competition records in all sorts of pony competitions, from dressage, to trotting/harness racing, and show jumping. Ridden by small adults, or children/teenagers, and I think you're allowed to compete with Shetland ponies, and Gotland Russ in their separate pony harness racing classes up until the year you're 25 years old.

Native breed stallions will often be ridden, there is a lower age limit for riders for showing - I think 14 or 16. Lots will be dinky adults or not so dinky adults perched at the back of a small saddle (but that's a rant for another day)

Riding pony type stallions aren't shown under saddle as a rule as classes are for child riders, most aren't ridden at all but there will be a few that enjoy a varied life away from the show ring

This, I think the title is a bit ambiguously worded

All the 12 native breeds have novice and open classes that stallions can compete in.
Riding pony stallions sadly have no dedicated ridden classes and haven't done since the 80s.
CHAPS do have ridden pony stallion class.
