Hi all!

I'm off on an epic ride across the Namib Desert at the end of March and am thinking about investing in some riding tights. We'll be riding long distances in a hot and dusty climate and whilst my other jods and breeches have clocked up many miles/hours without issue, I was thinking to try some riding tights for optimum comfort (and maybe to also wear them on the plane on the way out!).

Does anybody have any affordable pairs that they can recommend for this purpose please? I would prefer not to spend too much and they have to be sensible colours, nothing too bright.

Thank you.

I have a lovely pair from Arion Equestrian. Think they were £16 and are black with silicone knee patches. They have two zipped pockets too for phone and keys etc which is really handy. They're so comfy, I wear them all the time :)

Massive thumbs ou for the Premier Equine ones, also Dublin (but they're quite toasty so maybe not ideal) AND Paragon (new brand to me but LOVE them!

I love my Aztec Diamond ones, and at £35 they're not too expensive either. Also have a horseware pair which have mesh vents in the side which are great in the warmer weather too!

I have loads of different riding tights, favourite is Kerrits they are brilliant. Others include preformance equestrian, Aztec diamond, Arion and musto fleeced lined

I love my Kerrits; so comfy! I tend to wear them as leggings when I'm back from riding - got fleece lined for winter and thinner for summer. I got them for £35 from Amazon.

Noble outfitters. They’re about £50 a pair but so so comfy and they have a pocket on the thigh for your phone etc. And nice, subtle colours too!

I have Dublin cool it gel tights. I don't wear jodhpurs anymore because the tights are so much more comfortable. I really feel the heat and they're nice and light so should be good for the desert. My ones don't have any pockets though. That's the one drawback.

Can anyone comment on the waistband on these, I have a dodgy hip & if the waistband is very thick or tight and digs in, I get hip/waist pain.
Do they cling to your fat bits (if you have them!) and, is it shiny lycra fabric or matt thicker stuff please?
Help gratefully received :)

The waistband is quote wide and thick but if you're worried I would go with a bigger size as the rest of them will just fit to your shape (I did this as didn't want it too tight round my middle). It sits more round your waist than on your hips and fit more like leggings. I don't personally find them clingy but super comfy (I could quite happily wear them all day). They have the thin shiny material just around the bottom so that you can wear long boots and socks comfortably but the rest are a thicker and more matt material. They are very stretchy!
