Riding Tights - what on earth is the attraction?

I ordered some cheaper (but not really cheap!) ones and they were too thin for me. So I caved in and ordered the pricier ones (horzehoods) which I am hoping to wear for best as I’m sick of bulky jods in my long boots. They should arrive tomorrow, I will report back!

(Day to day I wear matalan jeggings)

I thought the same till I tried equine splendour leggings and they are so comfortable I am not sure I would go back to breeches now. I have got the winter weight and they are warm and water resistant and come in a range of colours. When you leave a review they give you a 10% discount of your next pair. I like supporting a small business as well. They are also reasonable compared to other brands about £46.

I have 5 pairs of the equine splendour and 3 of the CT equine ones. They are both amazing.

Agree with the others that you have to find the right ones. For me it's flexars and shires winter fleece lined ones. So so comfy and I think they're flattering.

Ok, so it looks like I need to try leggings again and give them a second chance, but try them on in a shop first 😁 Everyone else seem to manage to look good in them!
I really want to have the phone pocket as I think they are just so useful, and a high waist, and not so bothered about sticky bum.
Exactly what I was after for winter! My Pepperell ones had worn out, and my Horseware ones are great, but def summer weight so too cold for winter hacking.

Found some at Premier Equine (they are sticky bum ones, which I wasn't fussed by either) - high-waisted, 2 thigh phone pockets, very comfy and currently on sale at £29 down from £58.

I'm somewhere between a 10 and a 12 depending on brand and 57 years old, but the PEs 12s are perfect for me. Love 'em - so comfy!

I wore a pair on a riding trip once and wasn’t too enamoured in terms of comfort anyway… then I saw photos of myself in them and realised they are really not a good look for me. 🙈 I’m 5”8 and a size 12 but with larger than average thighs and I think I feel better in breeches.

Well @Mrs B that was a very silly thing to do.. link nice tights… now a rug seems to have fallen into my basket as well 😂😂😂

I definitely don’t need the padded bum! I love Legacy tights but prefer winter weight. Love the phone pocket on the leg. Flexars are also good. Don’t like sticky fabric.

A local lass to me started a company so bought a pair of her riding leggings. I love them. Super comfy with a phone pocket on each side so I can put my phone on my preferred side (and treats in the other 😂) and a good waste band. I bought a second pair in a different colour. I really miss the pockets on my sports leggings now but I’ve ran in my riding ones and they were comfy for that too.

They are all I wear now I have Countrydale which are great for winter and Pepperelle which are less warm Pepperelle also make great knee length socks .The Pepperelle one have the nicest comfy waistband .
The Countrydale ones do have fairly thick fabric for the bit at the bottom that’s the only thing I don’t like because I always wear boots that are slim in the leg and they are a bit hot for comfort in the house I tend to change as soon as I come in .

i definitely prefer leggings, or the hybrid/breggings you can get, but i do like being able to yank them up to my armpits🤣 i hate how low most jods/breeches sit!
Yup, right up to the boobs for me. It stops them falling down all the time like lower waisted versions. I'm a fan of Flexars, I was an early adopter so mine are years old and still going strong

I (40F, 5'6 size 6) have LOADS of varying brands (kingsland, pikeur, eqcouture,Horzehoods) and always found them super flattering.

bought some pale yellow cream ones from Bare Equestrian for showing Raf and they are hideous they make me look like a cellulite ridden obese chicken with the worst camel toe ever seen.....with nude compression tights underneath they are acceptable so i guess i will be sweating to death in 2 layers in the summer!!!!!

Warning - Photo of middle aged lady in horzehoods leggings here
I like the horzehoods leggings, thicker quality than the previous riding tights I tried.
They came with a Thankyou card, 2 polos … and a carrot mascot! Not sure what to do with that!

I will try them in with my competition gear, as the plan is for them to replace my old cream jods now that BRC allow other colours.

Or, if mr H retires from comps they could be used for every day
Those LeMieux ones look smart @Barton Bounty

I am not sure that I am going to post a photo of me in the pair I bought!!
There are some really good looking ones shared here. I will investigate further
:-)

I have some lovely Harry Hall ones that were £25. Very comfortable to wear around the yard all day and ride in, plus were cheaper than the jods I’d normally purchase! They have a full silicon seat but they are washing well etc.

I only wear Horzehoods, they are brilliant - I hate too thin and unsupportive ones, but a good pair of riding tights are worth their weight in gold.
