if anyone just has any general tips for keeping a better position?

Also how to sit to a bouncy canter, whilst keeping lazy horse going:o

thanks

Lunge lessons! No reins, no stirrups, a horse you feel safe on, a good instructor and have as many lunge lessons as possible!

Yeah, lots of work without stirrups really helps to gain a better position!
I also have a pony with a very bouncy canter, although it's getitng him to stop thats the problem ;) I always find that it helps to stand up just a little in your stirrups and place some weight into them, acts as a bit of a shock absorber!
Best of luck!

Sounds weird but imagine there is a ball in your horses stomach and you are pushing it forward and up like if you are sat on a beach ball in water, it pops up, also ride with a neck strap a few times and pull it so your bum is firmly in the saddle and you can feel your seat bones, make sure you look up with your eyes and keep elbows bent, it might seem easier if you are abit behind the movement and your horse is really in front of the leg, it might be worth having a lesson with a dressage trainer and get them to focus on your position, you will find your horse improves no end as your seat improves, hope this helps :)

Try singing!
Pony also won't go forward well if you're bouncing about on top.
You probably need to use your core muscles more but relax everything else a little. Sounds like you may be gripping.
Anyone able to lunge you so you don't have to think about keeping the pony going, may help you relax.
