Riding went awful today :(

I rode Roo, she's not done much work for the last couple of days. She was doing my head in, her head kept going too far under and tucked in, and her canter was appauling.
On the left rein she turned her head to the right and drifted left, so we couldn't canter a circle. And on the right rein she just motorbiked, while very nearly falling over, and instead of cantering a circle kept breaking to trot.
She also decided that on every corner, I wanted canter.
She really wound me up, and I ended up stopping and just sitting for 10 minutes to calm myself down to give it another go. I did eventually get a canter on both reins but I ended up letting her 'run' because trying to slow her down would just start the fights again.

Hopefully she'll be better tomorrow

perhaps you just werent in the right frame of mind today? I get days like that and when I ride next time it all seems much better!

I was in a good mood when I got on her. I think it's just because she's not had much work. But she can wind me up in seconds

It doesn't help. She avoids all my aids and everytime theres a problem, I do something such as use more leg, so she finds something else to do to get outta work.
I'm going to attempt to get mum to film us next time I ride, so that I can get some advice on here

Ohh, it is annoying when you don't get any fun out of it.

I didn't have a very good ride today either - I only get to ride for half an hour a week at the riding school, so I was really gutted that I didn't get to properly enjoy it! Buster wasn't playing the game because he was fed up after having already worked in canter/jumping all morning and he just wanted to get back to his haynet, and I wasn't helping at all because I had a sore leg from falling out of a tree, and was reverting a little bit to nervous nelly mode.

Keep thinking about the times when it goes great, and focus on that more than the bad stuff! It's the only advice I can give.

She sounds just like my horse and we had a similarly awful schooling session last night. It was evasion all the way and it was difficult to find a good (or even just acceptable) note to end on.

I went home feeling utterly useless.
