Bit of an unusual question but...I have a lesson tomorrow that I had to cancel last week because of fog and the week before because of ice (it's a mile hack up the road) now today I have come down with a cold! I feel pretty ugg but haven't got a runny nose really just temperature and sore throat. I was thinking of still going on my lesson tomorrow but was wondering if my boy would pick up on the fact I'm, not 100% and play up! How many of you ride with colds and does it make much difference?

If I’m being completely honest if I felt like that I would just get my Instructor to school for me rather then have a lesson. I don’t do being ill very well.

one of the best lessons i can remember was when i felt like death warmed up with a slight flu type thing. although i was exhausted after. (and when i say best lesson, it was some of my better riding, not the most fun in the world!

how soon would you have to cancel? i would be tempted to see how you feel in the morning, and dose up on non drowsy cold stuff if you go ahead with it.

i had a hangover last weekend-my fault!- and had a jumping lesson with a new inst that morning, so i forced myself thru and tbh it cleared cobwebs, tho i felt worse afterwards! i now have a cold/flu and opted not to ride today as like you say, zero energy, zero enthusiasm!! could they not ride instead for you?

I would ride with a cold, i find i feel better when im riding, not sure if it just takes my mind of it or what.
Can you wait and see how bad you feel in the morning?

I had a flu bad enough once that the yard manager sent me home and told me I shouldn't even be driving...she was right, but I got home ok and went back to bed. Other than that instance, however, I don't let a cold stop me! I did have an interesting jumping lesson before Xmas that involved the arena somehow moving at a different speed than my head when I turned, and me feeling like I didn't have a sense of direction...

Go to bed early, and hopefully you'll feel better in the morning.

are you a man and got man flu? take some paracetemol and get on with it. you really shouldnt phone in sick on a sunday! and the fresh air will do you good,.

Take Day Nurse...I felt like poop this morning when I woke up but after a couple of those little magic cold relievers I managed a 2hr hack and really enjoyed it!

As ocyc - take any over the counter cold and flu product eg Lemsip or plain paracetamol. That will get your temperature down and it's the raised temperature that makes you feel awful. The fresh air will be far better than sitting at home with the ch on high lol x

i still have a chest infection but i rode today and i tell you it certainly cleared the cobwebs.
my poor boy had not been ridden for 2 months and was so good he took off briefly once but was much more settled afterwards.
take care hope you feel better soon not long till spring!!!!
