Can i ask your advice please.

My horse has lost a shoe, its a front one, i would like to ride him in the sand school tonight and tomorrow night before he has a week off because i go on holiday.

I was always lead to believe i shouldnt because it unbalances them but my farrier said go on and ride and the yo says the same so im very tempted.

What are your guys opinions

BTW farrier cannot come until after my holiday

Thanks

I n a sand school you should be fine! I often get mine to shows to find he has kicked! them off in the trailer, and it doesnt bother him, have now won twice minus a shoe!

Im not going to jump hun, i dont do jumping anyway unless its like minature!! ha ha

Just flat work only about half an hour each night and im putting keratex on his bare hoof to try and keep it strong and stable

Thanks everyone

you'll be fine. i had this worry the other week, i actually even jumped with only 1 front shoe and the horse jumped about the best she's ever jumped so guess it just depends on the horse! (maybe i should take the other one off too...

Ha ha know the feeling. I rode on the beach on Sunday with one shoe but made sure i stuck to the damp areas where i knew he would sink so it wouldnt matter as much and he was fine

Just a paranoid mum i guess

Thanks

Just see how he goes - if you get in the school and he seems footspre then get off and take him in. If he's fine, keep riding. Check out his foot before and after youride as well to see if it causes any damage to his foot. Sometimes they can crack but if you see it happening you can leave off riding until you get the shoe back on.
