Hi, I've recently had a hip replacement (7 weeks now) and have been told I can ride at 3 months. I don't know anyone who is riding with a hip replacement although I know lots of people do. Wondered whether anyone on here has done this and can give any info to me. Thanks to anyone who can give any advice or support. My horse is 15.1 connemara cross and quite wide!

Saw your question had got to the middle of the second page with no reply so thought I'd reply.
However I don't know for riding, but a lady I once knew had a hip replacement and was cycling again 3 or 4 months I think it was after the op. However I know she consulted with the physios and followed their advice to the letter - no more no less then they advised, and did all the exercises too.

Hi, a member of our riding club has two replacement hips and rides and competes with the best of them! :) She rides her daughters 17hh ID, or a friends 13.2 NF type. She is quite amazing and VERY competative at the gymkhana games, although she doesn't do the games where you have to get on and off (we allow the younger members to act as runners in the case of games where you may drop the potatoe etc). She does have her own methods of dismounting and tends to need a leg up to get on, but other than that she does everything she everyone in the club does.
