Hi all,

For like AGES now, when I ride I feel like my right stirrup is longer when it isn't, and find it easier to put my left leg on. I presume this means i'm sitting to the left which obviously isn't good for anything I ride. So, who else has this problem and how do I get rid of it?

Thanks muchly :D

everyone naturally sits with one hip more forward than the other.

do you drive? if so look down at your legs when you have assumed your natural driving position, you will probably drive with one hip further forward. probably the same hip that you are tiliting forward.

next time you ride, try putting your stirrups slightly longer than normal, stand up in your stirrups, making your hips square to the horses shoulders, and sit back down. this might help you re-align yourself, and be concious of it untill you begin to feel you are sitting more balanced.

but if you think that you may have a problem, see a chiropracter :)

I sit to the right if I'm not very careful.

I didn't know this until I had a lesson and we spent the whole lesson in walk correcting the crookedness. Everytime I sit in the saddle, I have to make myself advance my right hip and shoulder. It feels so 'wrong' but it needs doing. It will take a lot of time, but eventually I WILL be straighter. It was also suggested that I would benfit from a visit to a Chiro as well.

I found my lesson really helpful because it meant I had somebody on the ground making sure that I did it right!! (btw - the lesson was off a Side-saddle expert so she's really into straightness)

I was thinking chiro, fell off at the beginning of this year and did all the ligaments in me left hip. Gah, more money :(

...*small voice* does it hurt? I'm a wimp :o

Jenni, yeah I drive, will look at this next time I do, bet i'm wonky all the time wihtout realising.

Thanks for the replies guys, appreciated :D
