Does it work? 3yr colt (welsh D) is getting his op in a few weeks, he has a retained testicle so its a job for the op table.
At the moment he is nice and chilled - only when the mare is near he does take an interest and whinnies etc and does the lip thing, the nipping has stopped now and he's generally a nice person to be around.......in the spring summer he can be a bit feisty and hes getting a big chap now - he has covered a mare last year - just a question about hormones really and how long they take to subside and if its worth trying the rig calm (till his hormones settle) - i plan to turn him out with my mare 6 weeks after his op and wondered if the rig calm needs to be fed a while before becoming effective?

I would be inclined to let a bit more than 6 weeks pass before turning out with a mare after gelding a 3 year old colt.

We gelded a 3 yr old pony colt and he was still a pest 6 months on. He did settle but he did not take no for an answer from the other horses for a long time.

I was in same position as you.. Welsh d colt with retained testicle extremely riggy.. Had op but continued to be riggy even to ride. Put him on rig calm took 3 weeks to fully calm down and stop the mounting, rearing on yard when horses were coming in etc. Fantastic stuff not been Riggy since he was so bad I got a blood test done incase they'd left anything behind. It was behavioural and Rig Calm broke the cycle of behaviour x
