If my colt should turn out to be a rig would insurance cover the operation? I'm hoping he won't be but there's no sign of him dropping yet. I'm just impatient I imagine!

They didnt cover my horses rig op - his was right in his abdomen and twice the size of a normal one. They used the excuse of a rig being a hereditary problem. We spoke to our vets who were very suprised as aparently they (the insurance company) cover other illnesses that are hereditary. Even though mum wrote to the underwriters (i think thats the right name) and they still refused

The 4yo that was in at the same time as pharaoh at the hospital had not dropped and i know he was not covered either.

Sorry, but your colt can't be a rig until he's been gelded and the gelding has proved unsuccessful!!!

Do you mean, if the operation is unsuccessful, and then you have to have investigation, and another operation done??

I assume when they mean rig operation they are talking about an exploratory operation to find the retained testicle to remove, not just removing the only decended one (which is technically what a rig is)
