riggy gelding answers

a gelding at my yard has been rather 'riggy' towards the mares. he has been acting like a stallion and has been trying 2 mount them, im wondering if anybody knows of any supplements of old remidies that may work as everybodys mind is frazzled by all the researching and phone calls weve been making. lol please share your ideas thank you x
 
My gelding is a wannabe stallion! He is awful, worse when mares are in season.

There is a supplement called RigCalm by Global herbs but have no idea if it works.

It is hard work.

I am fairly lucky as I have 2 fields, one where his neighbour is my friends mare and one where there is a gelding so can move him about if necessary or just put electric tape up to keep him away from the fence line if she is in season.

Good Luck, it is a pain when you have an oversexed beastie :D

Hope you get some more advice from people who have tried various things :)
 
Rigcalm is brilliant! My horse is very riggy and I personally love it but when the mares ar ein season he is impossible so I have him on this while the mares are in season. I would totally recommend it :)
 
Tried rig calm did nothing, actually made the horse worse and very hard to manage,
the vet gave us some super strong calmer but im not sure what it was, was a white powder, not that that helps lol
 
Friend used RigCalm on a colt last year, brilliant stuff, he went from being really stroppy and difficult to handle, to a kind, biddable horse in a very short time. I'd recommend!
 
I used some herbal stuff by Gold Label, cant remember the exact name but after trying various things the only thing that has really worked is separating him from mares completely.
He was never t/o with mares but they were grazing over the electric fence and he just broke through daily!
Seperating him made such a huge difference, Does this horses owner have handling/ riding issues aswell?
 
I tried rigcalm on my riggy gelding and I have to say it did nothing for me. But that doesnt mean it wont work on your guy so give it a try.

I cant find anything that helps so we just deal with it by mainly trying to keep mares in other fields during the spring and summer. Spoke to my vet who said really the best thing to help is maintenance of the symptoms which means moving horses around so the mares aren't near his field in the spring and summer. Altho when he went under the fence this spring to a mare for the first time since I had him he was good and was happy to separate from her without aggression and stuff, she on the other hand was the nightmare. lol

Yes oversexed gelding are a nightmare and best of luck with your guy :D

well the owner never rides him but he is 17.2hh and is quite big 2 be messing around! ive ridden him a couple of times, but he just throws himself on the floor so has been i guess unofficially retired
