I kinda posted about this last week but now the decision has been made.
I bought my three year old unbroken - as he has a fantastic temperment and I bought him with a view to getting back into riding after a long time off. He was in a great yard being broken and the YO is a BHSI so was going to give me lessons on him. He is broken now but as although there is no badness in him, he is really cheeky and needs a strong rider to make him do his work. As i haven't been riding regularly in year, i am very rusty and when I rode him for the first time at the weekend, he just totally took the mick out of me.
I spoke to the ayrd owner, and as I am moving house and wont be able to keep him in the yard anymore, we both agreed that he is too much for me. Turns out that he has a fantastic jump and the yard owner said that he will bring him on and bring him to shows for me.
What do you think he is worth? I asked last week but I was shot down cos I don't know what he is like to box and in traffic! He is only three and just broken so he hasn't been out in traffic and he hasn't left the yard yet.. All I can say is knowing his temp. I don't think it will be a problem. He is three, huge jump, loose lunging over 135cm and loves it! leave him loose in a school and he will spend the time jumping himself! he is 16.0hh but will probably make 16.1+ as he has to even up. Grandsire was cavalier royale, sire royal touch. dam unregistered. good to do, good to clip and shoe.
He might be the perfect horse for me in a couple of years time when I have gotten back into the swing of things but not now. I just think either he will throw me off, get totally ruined and pick up bad habits or more than likely both and then he wont have the future he could have. and I probably will never ride again!
I am making the right decision or am I?????
