I am sick to death of my horse being covered in what can only be described as ***** ( yes you heard me), every day!!!

Everyday he comes in from the field, (in during the day) he does a poo and then thinks *I know, I'll lay in it. I could use a few khaki highlights*

Everyday I have to sponge off the semi moist gigantic splodges of turd which results in poo smelling, crusty neck/head/belly/legs/tail/mane! - stains and all!!

Someone must know how I can avoid this! I dont care what I have to do... please help me!

Ahhh the joys of a grey!! I must say I don't miss it, even if they are the most gorgeous colour when clean!
After having 4 greys in my life I have to say there is no cure :(, greenspot magic spray helps as you don't need to use water.

Otherwise it is something you get used to or start to ignore ;). Wait untill the winter!!! Hee hee, Lycra hoods become invaluable xx

Tie a wheel barrow under his tail?

Let his have stable stains until the weekend and then give him a good clean?

Put a portible shower cubicle in the field?

Actually what about toilet training him to go poo in a hole in the ground, then when he rolls it won't stick to him?

thats best I can do xx

In the field he makes a poo pile (very handy) and does not lay in it, it is when he comes in to his stable during the day for a snooze, poo/snooze/poo/snooze

Thing is, his bed is quite tidy and I never seem to find the squashed guilty poo.... judging by the size of the crap patch on his neck, it has sucked up the whole lot :D

Bath him then cover him in furniture polish to prevent the muck sticking quite so much. (Furniture polish is much the same as mane and tail conditioner/coat shine but if you buy smart price it's about 40p a can compared to £10 a bottle!!)

My grey used to poo and pee in the same spot, then lie in it... the combination is far worse, trust me. She's kept out 24/7 now and is SO much cleaner - give me mud any day! :D

Even though my grey is a total mud monster, she is so very much cleaner for being out 24/7! I can even prep her for a show the night before (inc plaits!) and then just turn her out in her fly sheet again! In the morning I brush down muddy knees and hocks and we are good to go. When she is in she pretty much needs a good bath in the morning again before she is even close to presentable!

My first pony was a grey and she kept herself clean, I found out her previous owner "never" groomed her and she was constantly manky for the two years she had her. I'm assuming she was so relieved to be clean that she made sure she never rolled in anything dirty ever again! :D

I've also heard it said that if you have a manky horse, if you bathe them in cold water they learn not to get themselves filthy... although I'm not sure I'd do that!

Oh and my current horse is a chestnut and constantly has dung stains on him, or on his rug

if he hadn't been wearing his fly rug, that'd have been all over him!

(that all washed out BTW!)

I have a stable rug that has a wipe-able outside so i can sponge off the poo instead of washing but it isnt a combo.

Mine has NO dignity whatsoever.
The other day i come in the morning to find MASIVE poo stain over the face, covering the eye, and i kid you not, poo flakes hanging off our now brown eyelashes.

Discusting mare....!

Jet wash????

This is one of the reasons that no matter how good the horse was if it was grey Id walk on by, when my black or bay horse covers itself in muck I despair never mind if they were grey.

Maybe he's trying to say he doesn';t want to be grey... you could get L'Oreal Mousse and help him achieve his dream of being bay...

Ha ha!! Cling film is always an option! He has stupid amounts of shavings in a larger than average box so no excuse for soiling himself!!??! Ha ha!

I used to have this problem with my old horse. So next time round I bought a lovely bright bay - problem solved!

Our skewbald does that - if he is in before a show, we put his sweet itch hoody on, which stops the stains!
