My elder tb has had a swollen hock for 2/3 months now. Not overly lame but can't flex or when I turn him on a circle he won't cross over legs. First vet said it was his foot? Farrier cam, nothing wrong with foot but kept horse in bandage and box rest bute etc. No improvement so turned out and still no improvement but goes slightly potty in stable so kept him out. Now today hock is still swollen same as 2/3 months ago but perhaps slightly less swollen, new vet wants him in for x rays and scans and I'm so paranoid that there will be something terrible, after losing Paddy I get so worked up at the thought of anything being wrong with him, any ideas anyone? :(

Agree with Amymay. But what ever it is, it is better to know!
My horse was diagnosed with Ringbone, sidebones and DJD in January and I was told that basaically she would never progress past a very light happy hacker again... I was devastated.
We have proved the vets wrong thats for sure! She is now sound and we do everything we did before, if not more :-) So dont lose hope, what ever the outcome!

He has been retired due to other probs for over a year so I'm not worried if he just has to be a giant field pet forever
:(
