OK, I bought my Kimberwick uxeter slotted bit today. Took it down to stables to try it out. Got my instructor to show me how to attach it and the chain just kept falling off. Looking at images online it looks to me like she put it upside down. Please could someone let me know how to put it on. I am wondering if the bridle attachs to the little ring and then the reins through either the D or one of the slots. Then the chain attachs to the hook. Am I right, as she put the little ring so it was pointing down as if it was a pelham, which effectively made the hook for the chain point downwards and therefore impossible for the chain to stay attached. Thanks

I used to have my little mare in a Kimblewick in UK and yes, the cheek pieces connected to the small ring at the top, then the reins onto the "D" or through one of the slots (mine wasn't slotted), then the chain twisted clockwise (IIRC) so it lies flat, then hooks on to the hook. Does sound like your instructor had it upside down!!!

:) Not stupid at all, if you don't ask, you don't get :)

Small ring/slot attaches to the cheekpieces.

It sounds as if your instructor got it upside down, as you thought.

ps. Is the UK asleep? Quartz is from France, one answer from Spain and two from Canada! :D
