i am looking for advice on riding on farmland mainly in stubble fields, if the gate is open or unlocked can i ride in the field(legally) as long as its round the edge?? im in scotland so any advice would be good thanks

Legally, yes you can, but in practice why not check with the farmer first? The ground is so wet this year that a few farmers round me have asked riders to stay out of their fields until things dry up.

Check the Access Scotland website for a summary of what you can and can't do normally.

You have the right of responsible access.
If this is a stubble field--definitely not undersown with grass, you can ride in it until the farmer ploughs it again and sows the next crop.
The info on MEAG web site is excellent
