Ring for owners - wondering if its worth the effort

What a pity you are not near me I have been looking for a good rider to compete my mare all year and have been mucked about by people or had rider that are not nearly good enough. She is affilliated elementary. No payment either way and no work unless you want to help ride when you like. Fancy a move to Kent.

So telling you she was a rescue job. Runt of litter that nobody wanted doesnm't help then. I did have to drive to deepest wales to get her though.

Whippets dont need much space, just a bit under the duvet or on the sofa. Time not an issue as they sleep most of the day (and night). Only 2 bits of knowledge you need 1) not to disturb them when under duvet, on sofa etc or you will get the whippet 'look'. 2) if whippet is not sleeping and house is quiet then its up to no good.

In fact I'm actively avoiding any possibility of finding out about rescues, the main thing holding me back is that I don't like the idea of buying when there are dogs in need of homes.

I am no help with the riding/owners/horses, but love the doggies (have a giant whippet aka Greyhound aka sofa stealer at home )

I feel your pain PM! Happened to me a few times too. I now full loan one as said to my friends/family I would never ride for anyone again. Luckily loan horses owner is fab and lets me get on with it totally. Obviously with a full loan you have the bonus of being able to move it.

You'll find something else soon enough, bit perhaps voice your conerns on day 1 to eradicate this happening so much in future.

I hope I end up with a husband like you
