My horse was diagnosed with ringbone last year but couldn't be treated for it for various reasons which I dont think would be an issue now. He has been on 20 -30 minutes light work a day on a surface. Is it possible for him to be injected and return to full work? and if so would he still need to be living out?

I would be really grateful for any help on this and thanks in advance.

You need to have this conversation with your vet, only he can tell you what is possible. Also it depends on what you mean by "full work". Do you want to jump 1m20 twice a week or hack with a bit of schooling thrown in?

Ringbone is degenerative so you can't make it better, you just have to try to keep them comfortable. IMHO the more turn out the better for an arthritic horse so personally I would keep him out 24/7 if it's possible.

My boy has high articular ringbone )hind leg) i only found out as he went lame, although it turned out to be ligamnt damage that was causing the lameness, ringbone was also found. my vet said it has fused and to carry on as normal (with caution) he has cartrophen injections every 2 months, i use a joint supplement and magnetic pastern wrap, im very careful on rutty/uneven ground and havent really jumped yet but he has been sound for 6months.
How old is your horse? is it high/low, articular/nonarticular? is he sound t the moment? what did your vet advise in the way of treatment?? and is it front or hind leg? (sorry sooo many questions but they all need taking into account)

I think what my horse has is high non articular ringbone in his front legs and it's not very advanced at the moment and he is lame (spasmodically) in walk on hard ground. At the moment he has some magnetic bands on but I wasn't sure how much they were helping.

Ideally I would have liked him to be able to do some BE90's so I guess this is what I would be classing as full work.A huge problem I have is that I have no turnout in winter and no hacking and I can't move yards. I'm hoping to talk to my vet on monday but just wanted an idea of what the prognosis was going to be.
