I am lucky enough to own THE most beautiful dog in the world, and I’d like to learn how to show her so that she can qualify for Crufts and we can all have a fun weekend away. Basically 🤣

The nearest ringcraft class to me is nearly 2 hours away so not feasible. Can anyone recommend any good resources or videos that might help me please?

Thank you!

Is this your MT? I can’t help with online resources but, as the breed can be mistrustful of strangers, the biggest thing IMO is getting them used to being handled all over, by people they don’t know. Judges will have the dog on a table to inspect - so get her used to this - and rope in dog savvy, confident friends or family (who she doesn’t know well), to come and get her used to having hands run all over her. Make sure she’s happy to have ears, eyes, teeth looked at by strangers (also very useful at the vets!).

Also most non-show homes teach sit very early on and it almost becomes the default for the dog. Teaching a nice square stand is more important in the show ring, you don’t want your dog to keep sitting down.

I’m no expert btw as I stopped showing F once I realised his Batfink ears were never going to come right - as soon as he’s in a highly stimulating situation they point upwards and he looks like Anubis 😂 and NOTHING will make them go down into button ears as they should! Ears perfect at home of course 🙄

Hope someone here can provide some helpful online resources for you 😊

If you don’t have a ring craft class do you have an obedience type class that does/follows the kc good citizen scheme? We’re currently doing the silver good citizen and part of that is the judge going over the dog etc.

Join Exhibitors Choice and Voice on the dreaded FB and see if anyone can recommend someone close to you.

Mannies tend to have most issues on the table so get yourself a small grooming table and start getting her used to be on it, treats, praise etc. Handle the legs, the feet all the thinsg that might cause an issue.

You can start shaping a free stack on the ground as well....Finn has no idea what sit means, but he's been doing "stack" since he was 8 or 9 weeks old for his dinner!

I've only done a few classes but it's not that different to horses really, it's the energy and get them focused on you for the run round, for the stand up I would practice getting the dog to stand up use treats and get strangers to touch the dog like a judge would.

My friend used to show Ridgebacks and often used us to be a pretend judge.
