I thought I would share these videos to show why we need to rinse hay for the laminitics and how much hay juice is left in if we don't.
Also a cheap way of rinsing a hay section
The first video shows a section hay which has been soaked 12 hrs in the hay soaker. The hay soaker drained 7am in the morning but hay rinsed before eating Its been lifted out and put into a wire basket from ho**base and suspended on to metal strips also from the said diy store and you can see the hay tea that has been rinsed out which otherwise could jeopardize your laminitic in the light brown water.

The second video shows another section as before only this one was in another tub and was lifted out tub bucket still soaking wet not drained in an old chest freezer basket costing nothing as i have so many and then shows me rinsing watch the colour of water which is all those sugars we don't want our laminitics to have.

We talk about rinsing hay now you see the difference, if you drain the hay early leave hay dry all day then rinse, there isnt allot of sugars but still enough to discolour the water.
If you take hay straight out the container then rinse, there is more sugar water and you need to spend that much more time rinsing till water runs clean .
So if you have little time in evening soak hay over night drain in morning so hay isnt soaking longer than the 12 hrs then rinse later in evening .
These videos will be added to the site for future viewing.
