apologies, lots of tears and a bottle of red later ...
lost my precious Archie today.
One minute he was fine. The next he had an horrendous colic, with possible heart attack, and two hours later he was gone.
Thanks to an awesome vet, to whom no gratitude could ever be big enough, it was as untraumatic as possible, but that was still pretty bloody traumatic.

Yesterday, I nearly decided to leave him at home and do the housework, but being a slob, I hacked him out with the kids, on the high places, in the sunshine and the breeze, and indulged his silly spookiness. Thank God I did.

Give them all one extra hug, and one extra polo from me. Cos tomorrow may be too late.

Run free, my beautiful boy, and give our love to your best friend, who left us only a few short weeks ago.
 
Sorry to hear, at least you can rest assured you absoloutely did the right thing and he did not suffer unnecccesarily.

Its good that you managed one last ride with Archie, and you will alwyas have the memories to treasure.

Massive massive ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) I know there are no words I can say to take away your pain right now. Atleast you had one last lovely ride on him. Hold onto the happy times it's how he would want you to remember him.

I'm so sorry, thank goodness you got that one last ride together & also where there to deal with things as humanely as possible.

Words cannot explain how sorry I am for your loss, the raw pain and shock you must be feeling is incomprehensible to anyone who has not been through a sudden death, we can only imagine.
