Thanks to you all for your messages of support.

He was a smashing horse and apparantly the day before he died had been out for a lovely ride and was his usual, happy self.
Being grey and 23 yrs old, he did have quite a few melanomas. Without a PM being done, we'd assume he'd several inside too which caused the end.

It is great comfort that Denise, his last carer, was with him when he slipped away.
