RIP Davy Jones

So sad, too young, RIP Davy.

I had the pleasure of riding out regularly with him, either riding one of his TB mares or mine with him on one of his. Lovely man - I didn't realise how famous he was then (was 1985'ish and I was about 15!!)

He always got us in trouble by galloping around the kids football pitch at the back of our livery yard, with his stirrups up nice and short, like a flat jockey.

he was a flat jockey in his pre-Monkees days.... I envy you, I used to watch the reruns on Sat mornings... I loved him xx

I loved the Monkees too! I was absolutely thrilled to meet him a handful of times when I lived in Kentucky - best time was at the Kentucky Horse Park, May 2002 (or might have been 2003) for the High Hope Steeplechase. Really lovely bloke (and very little!). RIP Davy x

Someone has already texted me: ..then I saw his face, now I'm a bereaver..

Loved him, grew up on The Monkees. It wasn't that long ago he was on the tv chatting about something and I thought he looked great, healthy and young for his age. Terribly sad. RIP Davy. x

Wow, lots of oldies here then and Im another..used to all rush in from playing out on a Saturday to watch. Davy lived near Fareham, near my old home town and I used to ride past his house when I was in my 20s . Sad :(

Another saddened Monkees fan here too. Quite a shock! Really loved them, especially Davy. Never missed the TV show, had all the LP's ( knew all the words!) . Loved his horsey side too of course! My sympathies to his family and friends. Goodbye Davy, thanks for all the music and laughs! Rest In peace Davy Jones, you'll be missed. xx

RIP Davy :( another treasured star moves to the next life.

I also loved the monkeys growing up , So many famous people are leaving our world :(

Such a shock - I feel like a little bit of my childhood has gone. He was on the telly not long ago and I remember thinking he looked so well and healthy and full of life.

RIP Davy Jones

Very sad. I was a fan, despite being a generation too young! The Monkees was the first record my mum ever bought and she was a fan, I remember watching repeats of their show in the 80s, and then in the late 90s the dancefloor filling at my favourite night club whenever their music was played. So many memories of swaying along to Daydream Believer in the Bluenote, and my mate changing the lyrics as it was also used as a football chant at the time........

My first "crush" - the combination of gorgeous eyes & he was horsey - what's not to love! All condolences to friends, family & fans.
PS
Saw one of their reunion concerts a few years ago - yes, they WERE brilliant!

Yes, I always fancied him too. Such a sad loss as he was far too young to die yet.

My condolences to his family.

Rest in Peace Davy
