A pony from my yard was PTS last night after getting cast in the field, she was over 40 years old, and loved so much, she was a horse everyone knew and everyone loved. She was used in the RS when she was younger and has been retired for years she has had a home for life RIP you little star

I agree it's a shame she has gone but at least she had the comfort of a long, happy and well cared for life and 40 is a fantastic age for a pony

may she now rest in peace x

I definetly agree, this picture is a very recent picture, and they have looked after her so well. She wasnt even on bute at the end!

Now she can go and run around in horsy heaven

Jess she looked absolutely fantastic for a pony her age and is a credit to her owners and all the people who have groomed, fed and generally looked after her for the last forty years. It is so nice to read a story like this ( although she has now passed away, which is sad but I suppose inevitable) as so many horses live in dire situations and are appallingly treated. Many horses, ponies and donkeys don't even live for half their expected lifespan let alone their full. So to read about a pony who lived till she was forty and yet did not look her age before she died is both incredible and very moving x

How lovely a home for life.I told my coloured horse when he was born he would die where he was born as I only bred him to stay with us [no one else would understand him]It is a shame horses move so often and I think this pony was luck to have such a comfortable life.God bless

Totally agree there .....

Rip dimples xx

We have a pony at the riding school who is hitting near 40 shes 38, she was the first pony I sat on, Im 26 now rode her when i was 6 years old .
She still does the odd lesson at the weekend otherwise I think she would go down hill if she wasnt in some kind of work .

It is sad but thats life unfortunately . but .... fortunately for dimples it was a long and happy one

What a sweet face she had. I am sure she had a wonderful life and would be so grateful for her secure home. So many ponies don't get that. Well done to her owners for providing her with that.

huge hugs to those that miss her and RIP little pony
