RIP Jimmy Saville

RIP. He didn't answer my letter either but then I did ask to meet Enid Blyton who had died years before - I was 9, I didn't know..............

I met him a couple of times at Stoke Mandeville when my brother was in, usually for breaking a leg or an arm !

He raised a lot for charity but particularly spinal injuries apparently. My letter asked if i could be a policewoman for a day with TJHooker and Romano! I was 10!! Showing my age now!

A lovely, kind, eccentric man. Not many people could claim to have single handedly raised enough money to build a new unit at Stoke Mandeville hospital.

RIP Jimmy

I agree, a selfless, unpretentious, down-to-earth, generally nice, Yorkshire man.
He came to DJ at a dance at our local hall sometime in the sixties when I was a young teen still at school.
They have to put up a statue somewhere prominent in Leeds, where he can do his unique showmanship style for ever. R.I.P. Jimmy

I was so sad to hear he died, I just got a job in stoke Mandeville and am moving over after xmas, my cousins and I were just talking about how I might get to.meet him when im there only days before he died RIP

We must have caught him on a bad day, he told my friend and I to **** *ff back in the seventies when we were kids, we were hanging around outside Broadmoor Hospital playing by his camper van and he obviously thought we were up to no good! I have never forgotten it, we were so shocked!
