Unfortunately today is the day that our yard cat Molly had to be put to sleep. From what I can gather she was in her late teens but up until two days ago she was still hunting in the long grass but she went down hill and tonight when I got there she was in a bad way.

I first met Molly when I moved my mare onto the yard in 2001, we left in 2004 but came back in 2007 and was pleased to see Molly was still around. I got my own cat in 2006 so I started to bring Molly any treats my cat didn't eat. I then had to start bring her her own treats as she would come running to me every time I arrived.

My horse was good around her and had no problem Molly coming into her stable or walking around her while she was standing outside. One of my fondest memory was from last winter when we had heavy snow. I had just mucked my horse out and Molly come running round straight into my stable to go to the loo as the ground was so hard, she was desperate.

RIP Little Molly Cat

Aww. RIP little puss cat. I really miss my cats and need one for the yard but just cant risk it due to the road.

Thank you for all your posts. She has been buried in her favorite sunbathing spot. I missed her this morning. I've given my cat lots of hugs even though he didn't want them.

RIP Molly Cat, bless her. I had a yard Molly cat black and white who we rescued as a stray when I was vet nursing and she came into practice a victim of a RTA.

I took her to my yard where she lived and sunbathed for the next 4 years and played with the horses

Then one day a lady who came to do some freelance grooming brought her German Shephard with her and chased Molly onto the lane under the wheels of a car and she was killed. I was only heartbroken. Hasten to add when she told me it was nature, Dogs chase cats I nearly launched her accross the yard.

We now have Body, Tabitha and Daisy. My lovely 3 yard cats. Who are supposed to be hunting, but seem to spend more time meowing for Whiskas and Cat Milk.

At least your Molly had a lovely life with you
