RIP my sweet girl Tenino who we sadly had to have pts on monday night. Found her lying down in field monday afternoon unable to get up. Had vet out tried to get her up but she was too weak to stand. Stayed with her until around 10 at night in the field, gave her some warm food and water to see if she would gain some strength but it was no use. Vet thinks she may have had a virus but its the 6th horse he had been to within a week who had dropped down for no real reason and not got back up.

So run free my sweet girl as your now out of pain and dont worry about your little girl as she will always be looked after.

RIP Tenino

God Im bloody crying at work....RIP sweetie, enjoy yourself! And like mummy said she will look after your little girl forever

Thanks everyone for your support it came as such a shock to me. Only sunday evening had she come trotting up to the gate neighing at me for her dinner. She had lost a bit of weight and had been keeping a good eye on her. But she had put some weight back on over the last week and was looking so much better that the last thing i expected on monday was to see her lying there. I spent 7 hours in the field with giving her the best chance out to get back up but it was no use.

I just feel so sorry for her foal, i want to bring her up to the yard and pair her up with another foal for company but this weather just isnt helping. I had the vet check the foal out though and shes in good health so just keeping a good eye on her whilst she is still out with the herd.

Thanks everyone. The foal is fine shes mixed in with the herd and the mares seem to be looking after her. Just been up to see her she follows me around like a dog bless her. Shes eating hard food and the haylege which is good to see. I was thinking of selling her before all this but i dont want her to go anywhere now. Ive called her Teninos Shining Star after her mum.
