Just heard Sir Norman Wisdom died this afternoon aged 95, a grand old age. I can't be the only person who feels sad about the passing of another great, from a time now gone. As a child I was not a fan as slap stick was not my thing and still isn't, but as I've grown older I have come to appreciate just how clever he was.
RIP Sir Norman. May you rest in peace.

Well said Mickle. As a child, I couldn't see what was funny either, but as I grew older, I started to appreciate him.

Did you ever see the film which he was in, the one with "Mr. Mackay", where they were both in hospital, and terminally ill? He managed to make that funny, too!!

R.I.P. sir.

A.

Reading this news today has made me cry :( I loved the man very much. He was a comedy icon in my opinion and his own life in the beginning had been very sad.
I truly hope that he is at peace now and making his maker laugh as much as he did us.
RIP a great comedy and acting legend :( x

Truly a very very sad day, a comic genius and a lovely person as well so much laughter, I have always laughed so much at all his films and interviews, a true great, what a sad time.

i was a big fan too... i always thought he was a lovely man. When i was little i used to love the film where he put the milk-horse, Nelly, to bed in the house.

That was one of my favourite clips and also the film in which he was a deep sea diver and the suit just got more and more air pumped into it until ........ the scene that follows just has me crying with laughter.

Great comedy legend - can't wait for a run of all the old "Mr Grimsdale" films.

I sat and watch Some Like It Hot again the other night after the death of Tony Curtis - and however many times I watch that film, it still makes me laugh.

Glad to see I was not the only person who felt sad at Sir Norman's passing. I have really enjoyed reading about peoples favourite memories and films etc. He was a lovely man who will be greatly missed by many.

I used to watch his films at 'Saturday Morning Pictures' many, many years ago and liked every one of them.

Loved the way he did the little trip after being made a Sir and walking away from the Queen !!

And well funny that he used to 'play dead' every morning at the nursing home he lived in just to give the nurses a fright !!

Funny and charming to the end.

RIP Norman :-)
