My boy broke his leg hunting on Tuesday in a freak accident. He was the most charming horse with a huge heart and he gave me and many others so much.

He ran 32 times, won 3 races over fences and hunted like a demon. He didn't deserve to have his life taken so suddenly but at least he ended doing something he loved.

I am heartbroken. Thank you Tom for everything, I will miss you so much.

Awful...

Sleep well, Tom x

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, I feel your pain. Its something we all dread happening, let alone out hunting. My friend's horse also died out hunting on Tuesday, I'm sure they'll both be galloping across open fields, hedge jumping as they go, in the great hunting field in the sky. Cherish you memories hun x

It is always hard to lose one but this must having been very shocking for you. RIP Tom and ((hugs)) to you x As you say he died doing something he loved - and with someone who loved him.

Thank you guys, I know it will get better but at the moment I can't stop crying for him. It is the empty stable that is really getting to me.

I do so know where you are coming from . For me it was the drive home from hunting, without my beloved horse. As an old hunt servant once told me ,"Mike ,a man that cant cry for a horse ,is no man at all" . Wise words Jack Bines ,and look out for a good hunter called Tom coming up to join you.

This is something that I dread happening and even reading this from Mike makes me cry!

But, as you say OP, at least he died happy and active and fit and healthy and most importantly doing something he loved. He's a very lucky horse to have had such a quick, albeit untimely, end.

RIP Tom, go join Ace, Bobby and Buzz hopping hedges for fun.

(((hugs)))

So sorry for your loss RIP Tom , When i lost my old mare , I had a star named after her , sentimental I know , but I look up into the night sky and know she's looking down on me . xx remember life isn't about trying to hide from the storms , it's about learning to dance in the rain !
