Some of you will remember Sunday, as you helped me to choose his show name.
For those of you that dont he was my beautiful rising 4 Hannoverian Gelding by Weltmeyer out of a Hillhawk mare.

He has had problems since he was a foal with lameness. In no particular leg, but vets, farriers and back specialists could not find anything. So we decided to give him some time off in the field to finish growing completely and see if he improves.

Unfortunately he got injured in the field and despite veterinary attention and the best possible after care, 3 weeks down the line it became apparent that his fetlock joint had got infected. This was confirmed by x-rays. He was in a lot of Pain and the vets did a good job of making him calm and as comfortable as possible.

The vets could have performed an operation that would have cost well in excess of 3k and 3 weeks intensive aftercare. It would however have meant that he would never be rideable. This coupled with his other lameness problems led me and the vets to make the decision to have him PTS.

He went to sleep this morning.

RIP Sunday

It was him.. he had a very special place in my heart as he was very difficult when I got him... he was the most difficult horse I have ever had to break in, which is why it was so rewarding when he finally started to settle.

HorseGroupie did a great job of looking after him for me and had the best vets in our area checking his progress regularly.

It was just one of those things..but was a sad loss, especially as it is only about a month since my old showjumper was put to sleep.
