However... (9 mins 30) http://www.bbc.co.uk/looknorthyorkslincs/latest_stories/index.shtml

Sounds like the track, trainers and RSPCA had no issue with the track had no reason to suspect any issues with the track.
Lets wait and see what the results of the inqury are before drawing conclusions.

As Nanny_Ogg says, wait and see, but accidents with horses will always happen, why does there always have to be someone or something to blame?
More horses die as a result of field injuries than ever on a racecourse; I've lost three that way myself, sheer accidents, nobody's fault, so do let us get things in perspective when you know that everyone involved in safety in racing is doing their utmost to keep things safe for horses and jockeys alike.

Horse Racing is a horrible sport, and i hope that people will come to recognise that sooner that later.
An Unneccessary loss!!!!

Is it me, or is that an odd thing to say for someone who events?
I would have thought you were on somewhat dodgy ground there?!

i think you'll find that the number of horse deaths in racing is huge compared to the few who die on course while eventing. racing seems to be all about money, look at the huge profits from pinhooking etc, and the fact that these horses, that lived the life of riley and were worth megabucks while there was still hope that they might be fast, are then chucked out to the sales worth nothing, with very few owners or trainers seeming to give a damn about what happens to them.
i think eventers can, for the most part, hold their heads high when it comes to horse welfare, and the fate of retired eventers.
just mho though.

Point taken, and I agree racing is probably way worse - especially the welfare and retirement angle - I still think though that from the point of view of accidents - they happen. Accidents are accidents.
