Riser pad?

Hello all, I am wondering if you could help me.

Charisma had a saddle fitted back in September, but lately it seems (to me, I haven't spoke to her owner about it yet) a little low in front. It fits everywhere else, no pinching on the shoulder and doesn't move around on her back. I feel secure in it (a little too secure, got stuck when I fell off a couple of weeks ago!!) :p

Anyway, I have kept an eye on Charisma's weight (like a hawk!!) but think she could use more topline. She always could. but her owner is not keen to feed her up so will try her on a handful of balancer in a couple of days when I cna get to the feed merchants. I just wonderr with the work I've been doing with her she's lost a bit of topline and now the saddle is sitting low?

Anyway, I went to the local tack shop on my lunch break and the woman there (who did come to see C and tried a few saddles on her) said if it was a little low try a Prolite or Shires riser pad. I said ok will take that on board and if I have any more Qs I could always call her and she can come and check the saddle with and without pads, so no worries there.

I'm just a bit dubious because people will just say "If you need a riser pad, your saddle doesn't fit" which I can see their point but then why would they have even been invented?! :p

Just a little worried because this saddle cost me an arm and a leg and had to live off beans for a month, and 10 months later might not fit!

I used a Prolite pad for a while when my ex-racer arrived. She was pretty thin and needed completely restarting, so I used a narrow-fitting high wither saddle which was the closest fit, but it still wasn't quite right. I knew she would fill out quickly, and since we were only doing light hacking I bought a Prolite and it worked really well. I'd use them again but only as a temporary measure.

Ideally as we all know a saddle should be a perfect fit, but I'm damned if I'm going to spend £500 on a saddle which is going to fit for all of a month or two, just for plodding round the lanes!

LOL this saddle cost round about £700!!!!

It is pretty ideal APART from that, but she is such an odd shape I really think the only way I will get a saddle to fit 110% is if I shell out for a made to measure....which in reality isn't going to happen :( She is croup high with a high (tb) wither and large shoulders. Oh Charisma must you be so awkward! :)
