Hi,
i will be changing my car after its MOT in a few weeks and will be going back to a 4x4 (after 4 years of not having one, having 2 other cars which i didnt like, its time to go back!).
But, i know understand that they often have different road tax amounts now. Obviously i know it will depend on the type of 4x4 and age etc but i was wondering if 4x4 owners would mind telling me what 4x4 they have, engine size, fuel type, age and approx what their road tax is then i can try and narrow down what 4x4s i start looking at.
I prob wont be using it for towing on the roads etc, maybe just a small trailer around the yard, but it will be driven over fields etc so needs to be upto the job... and take a double pushchair in the boot!
Thanks in advance!

I have a Hyundai Terracan 2.9 TDi which is capable of towing 2800kgs.... it is only 2006 so that comes into the new higher tax brackets so I paid £215 last year, if you get something that is 2002 or older you come in under the old tax brackets and you should pay no more than £185 whatever the size of your 4X4....

Hope that helps....

Thanks!
That link perrie isnt working :(
its the opposite from what i expected! i thought the older the car, the more they may have put up the tax as they are not as fuel friendly with emissions etc, but i guess maybe they werent allowed to increase it for cars already purchased/made etc!
Its silly what i am doing, i'm going through the autotrader 4x4s, and comparing them on the MPG etc, none of the discoveries seem to have that info listed, and i have kinda fallen for a car but its a J reg... it just doesnt seem right that i will be going from a l reg, to 54 reg, to y reg then j reg! I should be heading the other way lol!

Think about a Nissan navara or pick up style 4x4 as they are in the cheaper tax bracket as considered commercial vehicles
